And I will admit that there are few instances in which a movie can be so bad that it retroactively makes me hate the comic books it spawned from, but it has happened. Spawn, for instance, was a film that made it clear to me how insanely stupid those fucking comics were.

Of course, those comics actually were bad to begin with, so I don't know what that does to the theory.

The notion that a movie -- bad or good -- "ruins" a title is as silly as the expectation that one medium can be translated into another without changing anything.

And as a longtime Marvel fan, I think their track record's been not bad this century. Hulk was an abomination (pardon the pun), Spidey 3 was pretty terrible, and I haven't seen the second FF yet, but I have no complaints about anything else.

The one thing (okay, one of two things) I liked about Terminator 3 was that it actually ended with Judgment Day--a ballsy move in general, but one that also resolved the heinous paradoxes that they brought up in the second movie.
