I enjoyed Byrne's recent (circa 2004-ish) reboot of the Doom Patrol, as I had never read any of the old stuff. It petered out quickly, quality-wise, and I'm glad they restored the continuity.

O.K. I'll bite, actually an argument can be said that X-men were based on Doom Patrol as they came out first and featured a mastermind in a wheelchair, a redhead, and were a group of outcasts banded together into an extended family.
