Somehow I knew Frak would be here, and to lead off too!

The thing that bothers me about such oaths is the delivery of them by most actors. It's almost like they're embarrassed to say them. Sort of ruins the moment.

Also, yes there was bad acting and plot development issues in the Star Wars prequels, but if one looks at the first trilogy with a fair eye they're not much better. Just saw A New Hope last night and, man, the acting is bad, some of dialog is excruciating, and the plot leaves some things to be desired (and don't get me started on all that is wrong with Return of the Jedi).

ALL the films are light entertainment. For every Jar Jar there's an Ewok. For every Hayden Christiansen face cramp that passes for emotion there's a Mark Hamill whine about power converters, badly delivered (I cringe every time it comes). And Carrie Fisher wasn't winning any Oscars either, I think they must have told Hayden to emulate her acting style regarding emotion. The best of the whole lot was when Lucas loosened control (The Empire Strikes Back) and Han Solo in the first two. The second Trilogy didn't have such a comic rogue and lost something thereby. But they certainly couldn't wedge in a counterpart without appearing too formulaic.

Pretty much all the movies a long on loud and short on plot and character development. You watch them to put your mind on idle for a while and to be entertained. And they all succeed in doing that. The order from good to bad is thusly - V,III,IV,II,I,VI.

Wookipedia, fwiw, states that "bantha fodder" smells terrible, and thus is appropriate for use as an expletive, though I concede that a) this is probably from non-canonical sources and b) not all fodder is bantha fodder and c) getting into a debate over what poodoo means is probably the low point in my life so d) i'll stop now.

zerofritz
