Two reasons: A) IP protection, it's easier to reverse engineer than you might think, B) seriously ugly - visual unattractiveness in current condition is hard to overstate. And yes, we do get a lot of flak about not having pictures, but that's the way it is right now, until we've got something a little meatier to show off. The DVD feature will mostly be our discussion and commentary (probably overlaid with considerable amounts of clips from the move), not concept animations of our vehicles, but we have many more - and considerably better - concept animations in the works right now. I will push for an io9 feature on us in a little while when we have some of that new eye candy to serve up.

For anyone who's close, we will be paneling on Saturday March 29th and Sunday March 30th at SakuraCon 2008 in Seattle, WA, and you'll get a much better chance to see some samples of our work and talk to the Team up there. We will also be down in LA for Anime Expo in July, and will appear at various universities in California throughout the year.

I work for MPS, Inc. (www.MechaPS.com), the world's first company dedicated to building real, marketable bipedal heavy vehicles (mechs). No, they do not look like Landmates, and don't fly - like I said, they're being developed to be marketable (and manufacturable) for actual commercial use. But myself and the CEO/Project Coordinator of MPS were both interviewed as to the plausibility of Landmate technology, some of the aspects of our business, and our thoughts on the Appleseed movies. Given all that, I've got two big reasons to be psyched about the DVD, the second of which is of course that it looks like it will be significantly more awesome than the 2004 one, which was sweet all on its own. The Appleseed universe was in place almost 15 years before the Wachowski boys put The Matrix onscreen.

I just kept watching the first one and thinking to myself The real Bri would never pull that crap on Deunan.

Hopefully this installment will see them shacked up and deep in debt from all the toys they've bought, as the manga saw them. Guges don't come cheap, y'know.

And it looks like Briareos's landmake makes it in this time. Nice!

Can't wait to see Appleseed 2.

Nothing beats the GITS movies and TV series. They're my faves.
