Ant Man is definitely a screw up, but he's not the kind of screw up that's funny. His inventions tend to wind up being bugged in some critical way, he's always fighting to overcome the shadows of the competent scientists/superheros, he can't keep his marriage together, he's a half-rate superhero at his best (which is why he changes secret identities like other men might change haircuts), and nobody in the Marvel universe seems to like him.

He's that guy with tons of potential who can never seem to do anything well, surrounded by guys who can build an interdimensional portal while half-asleep with a horde of zombies knocking at the door.

If you haven't seen the series, find the DVD's and take tomorrow off. I don't think its available on region 1 DVD yet, but trust me, the extra effort is worth it.

i loved hot fuzz and shaun of the dead, and now i look forward to ant man. that there are two of them is even better. maybe scott lang is sort of the antagonist early on but then they team up?

Whoa whoa whoa.. since when was Hank Pym 'mentally ill'? Yes, he beat his wife, but I would call that 'disturbed' not 'mentally ill'.

I mean, he was a bit of a genius...
