Robocop 3 ? Excellent screenplay by Frank Miller horribly butchered by the studio who wanted it rated more like PG-13 and less like the X for violence that the bloodbath that Frank wrote would have resulted in. There was a really good movie there. Just figure that everytime a hail of bullets directed at their feet stops a gang in their tracks, the gang is actually wiped out completely. And flying Robocop, we didn't need that, the toy sales needed that.

Robocop should have stayed dead with Orion... It killed the Studio so having failed it's retainer should fall on its sword and stay there... forever.

I'm all for an Outer Limits movie though if they can find the right writers for it. I loved Creep Show, the Twilight Zone Movie and a couple of the Amazing Stories movies. If they can get the rights to some of Neil Gaiman's short stories or a few other RELEVANT authors then I'd be all for it.

This will not be a sequel, it'll be a remake like Batman Begins, and they'll pick an up-and-coming director to inject a new look and feel with an all new cast. They'll start from scratch, stick loosely to the original plot, and "get it right this time". I only pray that the police cars are still Tauruses (Taurii?).

My favorite Weller moment: after returning from a trip to Italy 3 years ago, I was watching a History Channel special on Roman architecture (I think) and one of the talking heads was Weller!! I had to look it up to be sure, but I guess when his acting career hit the skids he got his PH D in something related to ancient studies and was working for Syracuse Univ in Florence (again, I think).

Robo Cop talking coherently and intellectually about the aqueduct system in ancient Rome - jarring to say the least.

I remember hearing that Earl Mac Rauch and/or W.D. Richter had script together... don't recall if it was a pilot or a screenplay. Rauch did do a comic book sequel, though.

I believe he's a professor at Syracuse. I remember seeing him narrate the "Engineering an Empire" series for the History Channel and doing a double-take when I realized it was Robocop. Who knew there there were actually actors with serious academia chops? To this day, I remember more about Carthage from Peter Weller than I do from 5 years of history at UCLA...yes, 5. Don't judge me! It was a confusing time in my life.

I would love to see what they could do with ROBOCOP now. And being young when ROBOCOP 3 came out I didn't really mind that the story or acting was bad. It was awesome just to see a guy shooting people in a metal body, plus the other machines it was just fun. So bring it on MGM.
