I don't think he's actually saying that Doctor Who is itself evil or satanic -- the actual quote is that his obsession with it is Satan's "lie", and it sounds like he's just using this opportunity to make changes and free himself from an overwhelming compulsive influence in his life. It could just have easily been Alf or a collection of ceramic cows. Giving this stuff away to others isn't going to pollute them with evil or anything, as long as they don't have an unhealthy Who obsession dominating their lives.

Although if somebody were going to pick on a show for being satanic, there's a lot more basis for it in Doctor Who than most of the usual targets, what with the recurrent atheist themes and subversive religious imagery. God I love Who!

Anyway, born-again religious hooey aside, moving past an obsession in this manner might not be the most ridiculous thing ever, and maybe even a little admirable.
