There's been too much speculation to the John Simms returning rumour for it not to be true ... lots of people are suspicious of RTD's habit of leaking false spoilers (and people on other forums are speculating that the Davros rumour is a fake RTD one) ... they think that the Master is the big bad in the finale. Rumours are that there is a botched Master regeneration! (Someone who is claiming to have direct spoilers from DW production team says there is definitely a regeneration in series 4 but has not been told who). Maybe Doctor, Master or Doctor's daughter ... I want to see the daughter regenerate (as a botched Master regen has been done before ... although RTD likes bringing things back!)

EmEwing

More than likely, there is only one Barricade in the movie, but multiple cars to perform the stunts. When watching the DVD extras for the first film, they did mention and show upwards of three different vehicle bumblebees. Think of it similar to spiderman. They did not just have one suit for production. They had multiple suits prepared for shooting because they will undergo damage during use or get dirty.

Thillbilli

The car looks like it's facing backwards, but the motor and controls and the driver are all facing out the back to allow for some crazy driving effects.

perun99

@Miranda Kali: In an early episode of Smallville Ma dn Pa Kent's email address is shown to be the license plate number of the General Lee. Take that to mean what you like.

What is up with the Usual Suspects ending of that Who trailer? I like the rumor about Simm and Tennant changing roles, that could make some good TV.

In the early episodes of Smallville I really liked the way they kept showing Lex as conflicted about all the shady doings he was in on. It really seems like, from the few episodes I have seen, that in the last few seasons he pretty much IS the bad guy. I mean, in the super crappy Justice League episode he had an entire complex designed to capture and do horrible tests on super humans. Do we really NEED more reasons to think he is the bad guy?

ElijahDProphet

I heard from various places that Jennifer Saunders is very likely to be playing a female Doctor, probably in this year's or next year's Children in Need Doctor Who special. These rumours are also linked with the Doctor's regeneration (like when the doctor could grow back his own arm) ... other things can apparently happen during a regeneration ... and making the Doctor female is a way in which DW explores this further.

EmEwing

I don't want to get all pedantic and Trekkyish, but it doesn't make much sense for the Starfleet cadets to be wearing the classic Trek swoosh on their uniforms. In the original show, that swoosh was an icon specific to the Enterprise; when you saw crews from other ships they wore different insignia. Apparently the Enterprise so distinguished herself under Kirk's command that Starfleet adopted her icon as that of the whole organization. Does this have anything to do with the whole time travel element of the film, or did Paramount just forget they're dealing with one of the most anal fanbases imaginable?

LicenseFarm

As Frozen-Tex said, it's very common to have a "hero" car for close-ups and one or more stunt cars that may not be fully detailed because they will get blown up or only seen on film in some limited capacity. This doesn't necessarily suggest that Barricade will be featured prominently. Also, wasn't the emblem on Barricade "to punish and enslave"? That's what I see in this close-up.

Derekasaurus

John Simm as the Doctor? I can dig that.

But that melodramatic trailer blows. I don't get this attempt to make Doctor Who seem so impressively dramatic. He tours around space in a phone booth that hasn't been is use for decades. There's a slap-dash plot device that allows them to change actors at will, and the most menacing monster in the fictional universe looks like a salt shaker and is armed with an egg beater and a plunger.

I loves me some Doctor Who, but let's not get confused about what our source material is.

t3knomanser

Ditto. Wouldn't surprise me if there were more Barricades. Can never have too many cars on set. On the Dukes of Hazzard, they used over 300 General Lee's during the course of the series.

Chimaera

As "Frozen-Tex" pointed out, every movie that features some sort of vehicle that takes center stage, always comes in dublicates. One is a real car, one has attachement points for rigs, one is hollow for prop use, one is for smashing up etc. etc. Many movies are like this, tokyo drift had three of every car the main characters drove. Heck, even the first Herbie (the love bug if you prefer) movie had a dozen identical vw bugs for various uses.

Rexter

There was an article in a hot rod magazine a while ago about all the cars they made for "Transformers I" It might have been referenced in Jalopnik, if memory serves..

codydog
