Sorry for being so grumpy about this. Turns out there really has been a problem with making video on Charlie's laptop. You'll be happy to know that she just ordered a new MacBook Pro today, after I chanted "dual core dual core dual core" at her for like an hour. Go, Charlie Jane, go!

It happened again, very weird. It may be because they changed the "remove image" checkbox to "attach image" to the left of this window. During the update, things probably went wonky (to use the technical term).

@Annalee Newitz: Ok. Funny enough, I have a 52" Sharp plasma being delivered today. Coincidence? Or are you watching me? Now my last post threw paragraphs out the window, and "preview comment" doesn't seem to be working today, so let's see how this works out: @Charlie Jane Anders: The video freezes around the 33 second mark for about 5 seconds while the audio continues. From then on, the audio is about 5 seconds ahead of the video. Update: I actually went outside halfway through writing this to get the TV.

@Annalee Newitz, @Charlie Jane Anders: Seems like the complaints are well-intentioned, seems something is legitimately wrong and needs fixed. The issue isn't quality (which isn't always particularly well-preserved but we all know it's the web), but the fact that the video seizes up and when it resumes (sometimes just a second or two later, sometimes much longer) the audio is out of sync. Every video for the last 3 days has the problem (for me) except the Batman animation (which is shorter). It didn't happen previously. At first I thought it was the server load, but I think it may be a problem with encoding (which doesn't quite make sense if others aren't experiencing it). I haven't experienced the problem at other Gawker sites and the glitch always happens at the same point in a video. Not sure why some aren't experiencing the problem, but clearly quite a few of us are.

It's a good thing you guys include links at the bottom of your posts because for the most part your video encodes are, quite frankly, unwatchable. Anyways, what gets me about Wall-E is that he's clumsy and accident prone, I assume a side-effect of his growth of a personality. It seems somewhat stereotypical for someone curious and tenacious to be clumsy, but it works for the character/movie and gives Wall-E his charm. Eve looks like a good character, too. Kind of a "straight man" to Wall-E's slapstick. Plus, with Andrew Stanton behind the film, it's guaranteed to be good.
