I adore this movie. It is probably my #1 go-to rewatcher when I need a boost. But in no way was a comic book spin-off either necessary or desired. For one, the comic will not have the real Alan Rickman! Shuh!

If you watch the deleted scenes and some of the overdubbing (particularly when Siggy says 'screw that') you realize this was a much more adult film, somewhat dumbed down when Disney decided to market it in theatres as a 'teen/kids' comedy.

Actually, it was actor Daryl Mitchell's Nov. 2001 motorcycle accident that killed all hope of a "Galaxy Quest" sequel for me.

(As a result of the accident, he is paralized from the waist down and unable to walk.)

The crew of the NSA Protector just wouldn't be the same without Loreado at the helm.

@Nivair H. Gabriel: I agree. It could be good, it could really stink. That's what happens with sequels. Some (a very few I admit) are great and some blow chunks. I'd kind of like to see a sequel to this however as the first was campy and fun.

I just liked that scene when Alan Rickman is with the dying space cadet and really knocks the "By Grabthar's Hammer" line out of the park...funny but also a bit "awww..."

for maximum nerdness a friend of mine converted one of the startships in the old Starfleet Battles computer game into the protector....

But the movie was funny.

How could there be a sequel? The movie was about lampooning all the worst writing features of Trek. Did they miss anything in the movie?
