I will readily admit that I have never been a Star Wars geek, but I will say that I have completely enjoyed the movies (usual complaints aside) but have loved the KOTOR games. I feel the people involved with the games have done better writing and series management than has Lucas himself.

I think this looks fantastic, and am very much looking forward to its release.

@ManchuCandidate: at least its not an O-Ring fighter, as that would be a completely different genre of game.

GTA IV uses the Euphoria Engine and will give you a good idea of how it can be used really well in a game.

It's rated 'T', so no beheadings, blood, etc. Depending on how young your kids are, it'll probably be fine for them.

Two years ago when I worked for a GameStop, LucasArts showed a demo of the engine that runs this at their sponsored lunch. I was blown out of the water at how great it looked then. Completely jaw dropping. I've been excited to play the finished product ever since. I believe the Indiana Jones game will run on the same engine, just without the Force powers.

I will wait and reserve judgement till i see what it looks like animated, but I am split on the Tonfa's.
I am a fan of the weapon as a whole, and I can see a nice split between offensive & defensive use, in the image above you have one set for offense and one for defense.
My first thought would be possibly that you wouldn't use them extended at all times, and might actually extend and retract the "blade" as you spin, so it becomes an excersize in timing.
On a side note, I've lost allot of my trivia over the past few years, has it ever been established if the "blade" emits any sort of heat? or just light? We know contact has an effect, but does it radiate so if your right next to it you feel it?

I cannot wait for this game, though I'll have to hide it from my kids to play it - might be a little intense, violence-wise. LEGO SW is fine for them, it's one thing to blast a LEGO figure into bricks.

Now, I might need to brush up on my "canon", and I know I'm going to sound like a real SW Nerd/Fanboy, but didn't Shaak Ti die in the Jedi Temple when AniVader blew through there? I don't think they showed that in the movie, but I seem to remember it in the book and I know it's in the Lego SW cut-scene.

Lightsaber tonfas strike me as a very cool and profoundly ill advised weapon. The use of tonfas involves a good deal of twisting, crossing and holding against one's body, no? At least you know she has to be skilled with them, else she'd cut herself to ribbons.

Great write-up. Though the game looks great, my concern is whether or not, after three recent SW films that have been mediocre to horrible (and I say this as a life-long SW fan), the force is something that should be "unleashed".

Imo, it should be meted out in palatable doses...like broccoli. Although, I'm not sure the title, Star Wars: The Force Allocated, was what they were looking for.

Swords are fine. Swords are great. You can do an infinite number of things with swords. And they represent something. You don't need to invent gimmicky unrealistic weapons that would maim you if you ever actually used them.

One question though: Doesn't the presence of all these Jedi running around seem contrary to Order 66 from Revenge of the Sith? Hopefully, the game addresses that.
